I am a Physical Education and Health teacher at North Tahoe High School and resident of Truckee. I am an avid mountain biker, climber, backcountry split boarder and all around outdoors person. My goals as a physical educator have always been to expose kids to fitness activities that are "outside the box". Team sports are irreplaceable in that they promote camaraderie, build relationships and provide important lessons on personal values, but what about those who just aren't interested or are looking for something more? I love to teach children about the fitness and recreation opportunities available in our beautiful mountain surroundings . That's why our mountain bike program is so important to me. Not only does mountain biking promote skills development, excellence, teamwork and professionalism but it also teaches respect for the community, environment and the importance of being an advocate for environmental conservation.
